CHILDREN
Kindle Kids
Age 0 to Junior Kindergarten
At River Oaks Church, we believe in providing a nurturing and secure environment for our youngest members. Our Kindle Kids program is a safe and loving space where children ages to Junior Kindergarten are more than just cared for—they are cherished.
After the time of worship, children are dismissed for Sunday School, where our trained volunteers, who are also police-checked for your peace of mind, engage them in age-appropriate activities and teachings. We prioritize the security and well-being of your little ones, ensuring that they feel at home while learning about God’s love in a fun and interactive way. At Kindle Kids, your children are in the best hands, allowing you to participate in the service with confidence and tranquility.
At Kindle Kids, we embrace Jesus’ love for children and provide a nurturing environment where they can begin to understand His love and grace. Our safe and caring program helps plant the seeds of faith in their young hearts.
STATEMENT
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
— Matthew 19:14
Sparks
Senior Kindergarten to Grade 4
Our Sparks program at River Oaks Church is designed to provide a safe and engaging environment for children in Senior Kindergarten to Grade 4. After the time of worship, children are dismissed for Sunday School, where they are welcomed by our dedicated and trained volunteers. Each volunteer has been thoroughly police-checked to ensure the security and peace of mind of our church family.
We understand that these are formative years for our young ones, and we take the responsibility of partnering with parents, legal guardians, and families in their spiritual formation very seriously. Our goal is to support and nurture the growth of each child, helping them to understand and experience God’s love through interactive lessons, activities, and fellowship. At Sparks, your children are more than cared for—they are guided and encouraged in their faith journey, fostering a solid foundation for their future.
In the Sparks program, we partner with families to lay a strong spiritual foundation for children. Through engaging lessons and activities, we guide them in the way they should go, ensuring that their faith remains steadfast as they grow.
STATEMENT
"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
— Proverbs 22:6
Ignite
Grades 5-8
At River Oaks Church, our Ignite program is tailored to provide a fun-filled and engaging environment for students in Grades 5-8. After the time of worship, students are dismissed for Sunday School, where they dive into Biblically-based teaching and connect with peers in a dynamic and interactive setting.
Our dedicated volunteers are trained and police-checked to ensure a secure and welcoming space for all participants. We prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, allowing them to freely explore their faith and build meaningful friendships. Ignite is more than just a Sunday School class—it’s a place where young minds are nurtured, faith is ignited, and lifelong connections are made.
Ignite is dedicated to illuminating the path for middle school students through Biblically-based teaching and community. Our program helps them navigate the challenges of adolescence with faith as their guide, fostering a lifelong connection with God.

We are pleased to offer programming for children age 0 to Grade 8! The worship service begins at 10:30am with families worshipping together, with kids dismissed for Sunday School before the sermon. We offer Kindle Kids for ages 0 to JK, Sparks for SK to Grade 4, and Ignite for Grades 5 to 8. We believe in the importance of nurturing the faith of our youngest members. Our dedicated and caring volunteers are committed to creating a safe and fun environment where kids can learn and grow.
Who is allowed to work with children?
Ensuring the safety of all children under our care is our top priority. As such, we have a meticulous selection process for our children’s ministry staff and volunteers. Candidates are required to regularly attend River Oaks and pass a comprehensive background check before being approved.
What other measures do you take to ensure my child’s safety?
River Oaks implements a rigorous Child Protection Policy that outlines specific guidelines and procedures for all children’s workers to adhere to. For instance, each room must have two authorized adult workers present whenever children are present. We are committed to creating a safe environment for our children to learn and grow, and that is why our preschool classrooms are equipped with video surveillance.
What if my child has been sick or seems to be getting sick?
We understand the importance of having your children attend our classes regularly. However, in order to maintain a healthy environment for all, we kindly request that you keep your child at home if they have experienced any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours: fever, coloured drainage from their nose, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, eye infection, or any other sign of illness. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our learning community healthy.
What will my child be taught?
River Oaks Elementary utilizes the High Voltage Curriculum for students in grades K-5. Our curriculum is centered around core values such as “God Knows Me,” “Jesus Loves Me,” “The Holy Spirit Leads Me,” and “I am a Child of God.” Through the course of their studies, students will learn about the Gospel and its teachings from Genesis through Revelation. It is through the Gospel that transformation occurs, not merely through good behavior.
